Mani Mahesh Kailash Peak, also known as Chamba Kailash, which stands towering high over the mani mahesh, is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva there.
It is located in the Bharmour subdivision of the Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh.
The peak is 26 kilometres from Bharmour.
It is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Himachal Pradesh.
Lord Shiva is the presiding dietary of this fair.
He is believed to reside in the Kailash.
Trek is the common way to reach the mani mahesh lake.
Walk is through the valley of flowers and wild medicinal herbs up to the lake.
Mount Kailash is considered to be invincible and always covered with the snow.
At one corner of the Mani Mahesh, there is a marble image of the Lord Shiva which is worshiped by the people who visits there.
After bathing in holy water of the lake, the pilgrims who visits there take the 3 circumferences of the lake.

The lake is surrounded by sandy boulders, small hilly mounds and prickly dry bushes, and there is no sign of any grass.

The easiest route to visit the mani mahesh is from Chamba to Bharmour.
From Bharmour, many buses and taxis are also available to Hadsar .
Again from Hadsar, there is a trek of 13 km to mani mahesh.
