Saach Pass

Saach Pass is a 4,420-metre-high mountain pass in Chamba District, on the Pir Pranjal Range of the Himalayas.

  • The trek is 127 km from the Chamba District Headquarters.

  • It connects the Chamba Valley with the Pangi Valleys of  Himachal Pradesh. 

  • Pass is open from June or early July to mid-October. 

  • The road is narrow and unmetalled.

  • It is the gateway to the Pangi Valley.

  • This is the shortest and toughest route from Chamba to the Killar and was newly constructed.

  • The route is also one of the toughest passes in Himachal Pradesh.

  • This is a real test of determination and skills of the driver/rider and fitness of the vehicle.

  • Saach Pass is open from mid-June to mid-October and even during this period.

  •  It closes down frequently due to landslides and water logging.

  • Even the road between saach pass and Killar can close down frequently during monsoon season.

  • Snow covered walls on both the sides whole you drive, almost frozen rivers with water flowing underneath the snow.
